"The less time you’re spending on things that don’t necessarily impact the bottom line, the more time you can spend doing the work that needs to be done… Veryon gives us that time back."

About Encompass Health
The challenge: Outdated tools, disconnected teams
At first glance, Encompass Health’s flight department had a relatively simple setup—two airframes, a tight-knit crew, and consistent flying hours. But behind the scenes, Director of Maintenance Jason Henson was juggling legacy software, manual workarounds, and mounting operational inefficiencies.
The company’s previous maintenance tracking system—an aging, legacy platform—was no longer meeting operational needs. Jason described repeated issues with Maintenance Task Reports (MTRs), where data would disappear or become corrupted during submission. “It would look great on the screen… but the data would just disappear or get scrambled,” he said.
At the same time, pilots had no visibility into aircraft status unless they asked maintenance directly. This created an operational bottleneck, unnecessary reliance on briefings, and delays in communication.
“We had a good relationship with our pilots, but they had to constantly ask us, ‘What’s the status of the airplane?’ We needed a better way to collaborate.”
The solution: Centralized visibility, streamlined workflows
After a multi-month vendor evaluation process, including pilot involvement and demos with competing systems, Encompass Health selected Veryon Tracking, citing its integrated dashboard, ease of use, and ability to bridge the gap between maintenance and flight operations.
“The dashboard was one of the biggest reasons we made the switch,” Jason said. “With Veryon, our pilots can see what we see—discrepancies, Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL), completed work—without having to ask.”
From day one, the impact on team collaboration was clear. Morning briefings, once weighed down by long explanations and verbal summaries, became tight, focused discussions. “Now, it’s just verification,” Jason explained. “Everyone’s already looking at the same screen.”

Implementation: A strategic, supported migration
Encompass Health knew migration wouldn’t be instant. With over 13 years of aircraft data and maintenance records, Jason planned a 90-day transition window. Veryon’s implementation team worked closely with his crew to troubleshoot data inconsistencies—especially around OEM service bulletin changes—and ensure a clean transfer.
“It wasn’t a plug-and-play scenario,” Jason acknowledged. “We had some things to work through, but once we got live, the team was all-in. And we haven’t looked back since.”

Results: Efficiency gains across the operation
With Veryon Tracking fully in place, Encompass Health has achieved notable improvements across its operation, particularly in the areas of communication, inventory control, and administrative workload.
Shared dashboards built trust
The centralized dashboard became a hub for both maintenance and flight crews, enhancing collaboration and eliminating redundant communication. Pilots now review aircraft status on their own devices and arrive at briefings already aligned with maintenance.
Inventory management transformed
Before Veryon, the team used three separate spreadsheets to track parts and chemicals. Now, all inventory lives in one system, with proactive alerts for expirations, low stock, and reorders.
“We’re not seeing as many expired products or parts slipping through,” Jason noted. “It’s made a huge difference.”
Less admin, more uptime
Digital logbooks and mobile access allow technicians to complete and record tasks from anywhere, saving time and improving compliance accuracy. “The mobile tools are a big deal for us,” said Jason. “You can be on the aircraft and still get everything done.”
Looking ahead: Data-driven and AI-ready
As an operator committed to efficiency, Encompass Health is setting its sights on smarter, data-backed decision-making, especially around root cause analysis of downtime. Jason wants deeper visibility into whether delays are caused by staffing, parts, or workflow blockers.
“Our organization is very data-driven,” he said. “If we can nail that, you’ve got a customer for life.”
He’s also bullish on the future of AI. While his team hasn’t adopted AI-powered tools just yet, they’re already pushing health monitoring data to vendors and exploring recordkeeping automation. His vision? Use AI to handle repetitive, manual work like document routing and categorization.
“Records are still very manual,” Jason explained. “If AI can help put things where they belong, without us dragging and dropping every time—that would be a game-changer.”
